The Hyundai Santa Fe has floated between filling a mid-size crossover and compact SUV niche for years. But, it has finally found its place in the mid-size segment with its 2020 launch. The 2020 Santa Fe offers competitive performance, excellent safety ratings, appealing style, and an admirable finish and fit.

Styling

The car boasts an attractive exterior design. It has a two-tier headlight system, sharp detailing, and taller proportions with a boxier roofline, which maximizes its tough look.

The interior, on the other hand, is curvy and high-quality with a broad dashboard wrapping around both the passenger and driver. It comes with a seven-inch infotainment screen in the base models, while the higher-priced ones feature an eight-inch touchscreen display. Also, the climate controls are clear to read and easy to use.

The 2020 Sante Fe is extremely spacious and undeniably comfortable due to ample cushioning for the driver and passengers alike. The length for the 2020 trim has increased by 2.8  inches, which makes the car look a bit more domineering. The Santa Fe boasts 40 inches of legroom for rear occupants as well, meaning it will comfortably fit most adults.

Performance

The Santa Fe has a 2.4-liter engine with 185-horsepower in the base model, which while not overly impressive, does keep the car moving seamlessly. The 2.0-liter turbo-4 engine, on the other hand, offers 23-horsepower and feels noticeably more powerful than the base engine. This engine delivers better acceleration as well and never feels underpowered.

Front-wheel drive is standard, but buyers can choose an all-wheel drive option for every trim level. The car comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission option, which shifts smoothly even in the sport mode. The steering of the car is light and suitable for everyday use, so handling the Santa Fe is easy and enjoyable. For passengers, the ride feels supremely calm and comfortable.

Safety

The car has received impressive crash-test scores and has automatic braking in all the trims. Blind-spot monitors have been added on limited models and the base SE, SEL models feature rear occupant alert. The 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe earned the award of IIHS Top Safety Pick and has acquired five stars from the federal government as well.

Features

The 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe comes in only three models – SE, SEL, and Limited. While the SE, SEL are base models, the Limited offers premium features. The car comes with 17-inch wheels, automatic emergency braking, Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® integrations, a seven-inch infotainment screen, and a 60,000mile/five-year bumper-to-bumper warranty.

The SEL boasts heated front seats, keyless start, and a power driver start. You can also get premium audio, cooled front seats, an eight-inch touchscreen, and leather upholstery as optional features in this model. However, in the Limited trim, these premium features are present along with heated rear seats, a wireless cellphone charger, automatic wipers, and surround-view camera system.

Conclusion

Overall, the 2020 Santa Fe is a solid vehicle possessing that luxurious features modern drivers look for without being too much of a burden on your bank account.
